About the Blogger

If I had my way, I would skip right over school (magically attaining all the knowledge I missed) and go right into a career. The idea that I am only 7 years away from deciding on my final career, and getting my first job in fashion is slightly concerning but mostly mind-blowing (in the best way).

Until then, I have the high school classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC to teach me everything about fashion that I want to know. These classes are how I took my first step on the journey to a career in fashion. I've been interning as well, trying to gain more experience and knowledge of the industry.

At the very beginning of my journey into the fashion industry, I discovered blogs and decided that I needed to express my ideas to an audience like Tavi Gevinson, Garance Dore,  Rumi Neely, and Bryan Grey Yambao (Bryanboy) are doing every day. Cue the creation of Teen Fashion From Suburbia in December 2011.

Teen Fashion From Suburbia is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I created it to give a more solid voice to teens about our trends, our stores and our ideas on fashion. I am so proud of the following it has built up in the past year, and all the experiences I have earned and the lessons I have learned from having a blog. I could list them all, but I won’t bore you with that. Honestly, I just want to say thank you to my regular readers for coming back and for those of you who are new, stick around. Please.

This fantastic little blog has offered me the opportunity to go to New York Fashion Week for the first time in February 2013, again in both September 2013 and February 2014. After going to the shows and covering them, I knew that this, fashion, is what I want to do in life.

But what do I want to do? To be honest, I don’t know. At the very beginning of my adventure through the wonderful world of fashion, I wanted to be a designer. However, my creativity tends to die down after working for too long, and I didn’t feel that sort of passion for designing. Now I am trying for the business side of fashion, whether it be merchandising at an international store, editing a famous blog or magazine, being a business manager for a start-up designer, a CFO or the head of a fashion PR firm.

I have some big dreams, I know. That’s the wonderful thing about dreams, they are always there for you to aspire to and eventually achieve if it is something you really want. For right now, this is what I want.

As for you all, well, you are the best people in the whole wide world, and I wish I could give every one of you a big hug. J

Yours,
Emma
